Where do you get your Volvo Serviced?

I am a long time Volvo fan and dream of, at some point in my life, owning a Volvo wagon and driving around in a tweed jacket (you know, the ones with the elbow patches). So, I have a yet another question for Oppo, where do you service your Volvo ? I mean, for service beyond the consumables (brakes, tires etc.).

My closest Volvo dealership 85km away and I don't particularly want to drive that far every time something goes wrong. Do I bite the bullet and drive to the dealer, try and track down a Volvo shop or find something else (shade tree mechanic?)?

Do they need service?

If you go new, it'll obviously be worth it to get to the dealer while you're under warranty. Otherwise, I go to an indy for anything I do feel confident trying to do myself.

I never have to service mine.

I don't have one!

Lol, I've heard they're reliable? I like to take care of my cars as much as I can.

Don't you have an S80? They aren't super complicated to work on?

Sorry, whenever I think larger luxury sedan I've always had a negative outlook towards "maintenancability".

I probably won't go new but I'll have to find myself an indy shop :)

Oh they are; I've taken it to the shop for the transmission, but everything else I do on my own.

What year S80? I've worked on an 01 and it's not too bad, though I can't stand those brake clips...

Volvo dealer.

Sadly, they're fucking idiots. Forgetting to put to oil cap back on, etc.

Don't know any reliable indies in my area, my car miraculous ended up with a huge scratch underneath the bumper (reversing onto a parking space thingy) the last time I took my 850 to one of those. Still haven't gotten around to painting it.

Forgot to mention I don't take care of my car all that much other than washing (derp)/oil change/tire change (summer/winter)/dangerous things.

My '97 850 is about to reach 80k miles...I wish I could have more reason to drive. I'm stuck in a city grid, and there aren't any fun driving places...

I take mine to a independent Volvo specialist shop where I bought my first car from.
